My Christmas present for my mom. She likes crows and she likes watercolors soooo I made a watercolor crow! lol

Used a photo reference, I sketched it from a black and white copy, then TRIED to following the colors off the computer, but that didn't really work as I was in another room painting. He had more of a blue-black coloration, but my black paints are more of a brown so that's what I went with. I like it, though.
First time I did a watercolor without paint pencils, which was scary. Used the cheapo paints I love and these new ones that gave it the outline. They're so rich. @_@ BG was just the best I could do. Didn't like blurry city in pic, so I tried for a misty-dusk look.

Materials:
Awesome brand-less water colors
Yakra watercolors
Graphite crayon
Various little brushes (Thanks to ~psychocow007 and ~freerangepenguin

ooh, awesome work, hana-chan! the colours really did turn out very rich. watercolours are so fun to work with :)
The crow is very cute :D I like crows a lot too, though all ours here are fat.

I really like this hananananana. It is pretty good...much better than most of my bird tries (I cant get the beak right). U get a +fav for this.

aww, thank you! I like watercolors 'cause they aren't as crazy to use as other paints and colored pencils just hate me.
yeah, crows are pretty cool. a fat one would be really funny, though. XD

He's actually birdy-ref #2. I had the abandon my first choice 'cause I could not get the head area right (Beak included.) The hardest part of the him to sketch though was the feathers. Black doesn't really show the details that well...

yes, i agree, watercolours are so... agreeable? compared to other mediums.
And I guess ours here are generally fat. My sister heard of someone who came here and wondered why there were so many black chickens wandering lose xD
